Final Workshop – January 2018

A fifth workshop was staged with Steering Group members on 18 January, 2018, to review the scheme, which had undergone further technical development. The changes were considered fairly minimal, and the reasons for them were well understood. The Steering Group concluded that they continue to support the scheme and greatly welcomed St George’s commitment to the process. However, one comment remained regarding the ornamentation and detail to the balconies; St George have reviewed this and incorporate before submitting the application.

The group was pleased to see that the wing buildings which abut the corner building had been amended to better fit with the new design. The workshop concluded with a review of the approach to public realm design associated with the corner building and its wing buildings. The impact the Steering Group has had on the overall design is therefore quite extensive, and beyond in terms of the original agreement.

Drop-in Exhibition – January 2018

A further meeting with key members of the Steering Group took place on 23 January 2018 to discuss how the public exhibition could be best staged. This resulted in agreeing that the consultation process should be fully described (as on this website), and via a purpose filmed video. The intention is that these will give an open account of the process, for those residents who were unable to take up the option of joining the group.

Drop-in Exhibition – February 2018

A drop-in exhibition of the process and the resulting planning application design will be staged at the Guildhall on February 16, 17 and 19. More details can be found under on the News and Events page and it will be advertised in local papers around two weeks before the exhibition opens to the public. The exhibition will be attended by Steering Group members, representatives of St George, Simon Bowden Arcitects and Soundings. Interested local people can drop-in at any point during the opening hours of the exhibition and do not need to make any arrangements beforehand.
